An inventive pairing by Sally Pinkas of the only Piano Sonata by Frank Bridge (1879 – 1941), which took him three years to compose, and the wartime Sonata No. 2 by Shostakovich. The unheard presence on this disc is Benjamin Britten who studied with Frank Bridge and was great friends with Shostakovich.
