Born in 1930, Asen Selimski developd a repertoire of around 40 baritone roles.  Composers not represented on this disc include – Benjamin Britten, Mussorgsky and Puccini.  Between 1974 and 2015 Asen Selimski taught at the National Academy of Music in Sofia.  “In the opera,” he noted, “one has the special feeling of being transformed into a person of another age.”  These moments captured on here more than justify those comments.
