Lyubomir Bodurov (1925 – 1992) began his career after the Second World War in amateur performances, he sang in choirs and worked in commerce. His break came in 1950 in a performance of Zeller’s Der Vogelhandler (Track 1), leading on to a glittering career, encompassing a huge range of operas – as described in the programme notes – some of which can be sampled on this disc.
