Evgeny Irshai’s String Quartets and String Sextet, composed between 1991 and 2021, are works in the tradition of Bartok and Shostakovich. The first is dedicated to his late mother, the 4th his reaction to Russia’s annexation and occupation of Ukraine in 2014.
