Vlastislav Matousek (b.1948) studied in Prague. His interests in ethnomusicology developed into a full time study of the Japanese shakuhachi flute. Elements of this can be heard in these pieces for string quartet combined with Jazz improvisation and Classical forms. The unconventional name of Gadrew Way reveals a string quartet together for over twelve years, whose repertoire covers Czech Folk themes, Jazz and Klezmer.
