A recently discovered 2007 release in the MSR Classics catalogue.  At the time of recording, Robert Oppelt was Principal Bass in the National Symphony Orchestra.  His programme of solo and small ensemble pieces allows the bass into centre stage position as a genuine solo instrument, particularly in the Six Waltzes by Dragonetti (1763 – 1846), which are contrasted by the sharp Quartet for Double Basses by Gunther Schuller (1925 – 2015).
