Theresa Delaplain’s selection is dedicated to her father who loved travelling, the music here representing different places and cultures. The formal sounds of Edmund Rubbra’s (1901 – 1986) Sonata contrasting with the Soler’s Souvenir de Madrid. Robert K. Mueller’s Commemoration remembers the events of 9/11. There is a French influence in Grazyna Bacewicz’s Sonata, while Merab Partskhaladze’s (1924 – 2008) Melody and Dance display an exotic side to the oboe!
