In their original form, Bach composed his three sonatas BWV 1027 – 1029 for viola da gamba and harpsichord. Their combined eleven movements dating from his time at Cothen. Stepan Filipek is a Czech cellist noted for his progressive musical thoughts. With pianist Sara Medkova he imparts a modern sound to these intriguing pieces. (An LP edition is also available.)
