The great Bulgarian mezzo-soprano, Nadya Afeyan (1917 – 2000) spent the war years in Vienna.   Returning to Bulgaria, she worked her way through small roles to eventually become a star of the Sofia Opera.  As this selection demonstrates, she could sing everything from Carmen to a Hugo Wolf song.
