Of the two Czech composers on this disc, Pavel Haas (1899 – 1944) is represented by a pre-war piece and one that he composed in Terezin before his death in Auschwitz, while Vladimir Soukup (1930 – 2012) by his Oboe Sonata a late work following on from a series for solo instruments. These and the pieces by Glen Roven (1957 – 2018), Asha Srinivasan (b. 1980) and Hugo Godron (1900 -1971) are put into their musical context by Sara Fraker’s detailed programme notes.
